The higher education sector in Singapore consists of four local universities, five polytechnics and a number of private education institutions (PEIs). In addition, Singapore has many world-class schools, such as the French University - INSEAD, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and US business schools such as the Graduate School of Business of the University of Chicago. To ensure that the PEIs in Singapore maintain the high quality standards and business practices that the Board of Education has set out, all PEIs in Singapore must operate within the Enhanced Program Framework Registration Framework - RF) to register with the Board. This ensures that the PEI in Singapore meets a certain standard of registration and regulatory requirements, in order to protect the interests of students enrolled in their centers.
